Seasons around the Sun

Each year we journey around the sun, counting chronological birthdays each time we pass. Towards the first few years, there is seemingly little difference between biological aging. However, as we progress into our 30’s, 40’s, and onward, the biological aging coronation to chronological age varies more with each year. Some of us or our friends seem to age slower, while others seem to rapidly age biologically. Now, there is much debate on the level of influence from genetics - taking the responsibility out of the hands of the body’s owner, and giving excuse that it is sole up to chance. Luckily, both ancient TCM and Auyrvedic agree with the newer science of epigenetics! At a certain point, your birth genetics have been replaced by your environmental genetics. The environment of how you think (mental environment), how you eat and move (physical environment), and how you manage your vitality (energetic environment).

The ancient yogis and qigong masters understood the importance of not only participating in the crafting of ones’ environment, but the necessary to do so mindfully and in harmony with Mother Nature herself. As we chronologically age, there are some factors -such as gravity- that are hard to dismiss. Without question, the planet we are on is a planet of creation that will ultimate disintegrate. The body is no different. However, what we can do is slow the process and amount of suffering that comes with the eligibility of living on Mata Bhumi (planet earth) .

One of the most simple and profound ways to accomplish this is to see clearly what season of life you are in, what are the proper protocols for that season, and what is best to do now to prepare for the upcoming season. In this way, we live not only in accordance with the seasons each year, but in harmony with the overall seasons of life.

Spring of life: ages 0-8

Early Summer: ages 8-33

Late Summer: ages 33-58

Autumn of life: age 58-83

Winter of life: ages 83-108

Cheers to clarity
